Rail Power

Findlay Irvine offer an innovative range of solutions for condition based maintenance problems as well as specifically designed data monitoring components for rail power assets. Responding to the need to better understand and monitor power assists, Findlay Irvine has worked directly with leading Rail Networks to create a diverse range of solutions to help reduce whole life costs through gathering data that can warn against failures before they happen.

Utilising our experience with data gathering and remote monitoring these unique solutions can integrate easily with existing technologies and infrastructure. This allows the monitoring of existing rail power assets without having to replace hardware. The ability to strap on sensors which can connect to Network Rail approved data loggers which can manage the data before sending it to Findlay Irvine’s secure servers to be displayed on a data management website that can be viewed from any internet enabled device allows users to monitor assists from anywhere. Systems are designed to be used a complete turnkey solution or for to be integrated into an existing data management system.

Principle Supply Points

The Findlay Irvine PSP Remote Monitoring System is designed to provide a complete remote monitoring solution of Principle Supply Points (PSP) and Auxiliary Supply Points (ASP). The system utilises Findlay Irvine’s marketing leading Data Loggers to collect information directly from PSP and ASPs utilising a number of digital volt-free contact outputs before wirelessly transferring the data to the Findlay Irvine servers where it is then displayed on any internet enabled device via the dedicated website.

This integrated or standalone system allows Network Operators to remotely monitor all their PSP/ASP assets quickly and easily. The website empowers users to effectively manage the data and will automatically send emails to specified users in the event of alarms being triggered. The website allows for multiple levels of users from Administrators to View Only in order to be useful to all levels of interested parties.

Overhead Frost Warning

Providing advance warning that frost is likely to form on overhead contact wire allowing operators to take appropriate action to ensure services continue to operate.

Modern day trains and trams are more sensitive to poor contact with the conductor wire and can shut down if insufficient current can be drawn.

The Overhead Line Condition Sensor (OLCS) is intended to provide information on the likely hood of frost forming on an overhead cable. The OLCS can be used in combination with the Wireless Rail Temperature sensor to help with for warning of ice and other slipper rail head conditions

The OLCS consists of a number of sensors some of which are attached to a short “dummy” section of overhead cable mounted at a similar height to the actual overhead cable. The device is easily attached to an existing pole using standard “sign-fix” fixings.
